Honoring Dad

My dad has been gone from us for many years now.  But I just want to take time out to remember him for his goodness and contributions as well as his struggles. First of all, I can imagine it’s tough being a man in this world.  Being a provider, a protector, husband, father, the cornerstone to the family.  It’s a lot to juggle.  Ideally,  that is what a man is. My dad was all that.  A dad of 6 kids. The things I know of his past, his struggles and pain all came from stories my mom told me.  My…

A Get Away in May

Last month I was able to attend Art Biz Coach Mastermind in Santa Fe, New Mexico offered by Alyson Stanfield. One of my favorite places in the world.  I love Santa Fe not only for the art but also for its’ beautiful  reddish country side dotted with junipers, rushing rivers lined with cottonwoods and its famous Spanish colonial and pueblo architecture. Santa Fe is an art meca for all kinds of amazing art including Native American and southwest art.  I can’t even begin to express how inspiring it was for me to see all the amazing art. The…

Birthday Month

The smell of lilacs, fresh cut grass, giant lollipops and laughter in the air are whispers of long ago.  Those are happy memories of my birthday.

Taking A Risk

I have a new little venture. I decided to enter 3 of my canvas paintings into a juried art show. All three were accepted. I was excited to receive the news.  I still am.  I have been in many juried shows through out my 29 year art career but this one is different because I entered canvas paintings only.  I love painting and I love ceramics.  Ceramics comes easier of coarse.   But painting, I am never too sure.  I am amazed how other painters can just whip up so many beautiful ideas and have a great body of work to…

A New Thing

“He is doing a new thing”  (in me) That is my inspiration for this season.  Isaiah 43:19. The other day a friend mentioned on Facebook that she was selling her house and had to put away all her art supplies for a while.  I shutter at the thought.  But it got me thinking about how we get used to having many things at our fingertips but then there is a shift and we have limited resources. We can get frustrated, stomp our feet, curse the air, and ask ‘why me, ‘why now?’.   But eventually the disrupt  forces us to think…

New Attitude!

This year has started off very different from the last 4 years. We are now 3 months into the year.  This is about the time we first measure how the year is going so far.   I’m not sure you will believe me or that I will bore you with my faith beliefs but here goes. Goal #1. To be bold in my faith! In the spring of 2017 I had such a difficult season working in my own strength. (My own strength? you ask,)  ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”  Philippians, 4:13. Yes, in my…
