Outdoor Decor

As we are discovering this year, folks are relocating in large numbers to Arizona, many are choosing Tucson to settle. I say to all the newbies, Welcome to Tucson. There are 10 good months of pleasant weather here and outdoor living is what we have become accustom to. So, it’s no surprise that folks want to find art that suits their home but also their courtyard, patios, and pool sides. I’m your gal and happy to oblige. Here are two new mosaic panels that are suited for outdoor decor. They are 3-d sculpted tile features mixed with flat piece handmade…

Adjust, Flow and Grow

I am so excited about new things happening this year.  I’m still adjusting to how business practices are changing….many are shopping on line.   My beloved Stein Mart is no more.  Gosh, I just loved that store.  Such cute things for ladies my age.   But Alas… no more.   I am old school. I like to shop in person, I like to talk on the phone.  I prefer meeting in person. With the exception of a doctor appt.  I love video chat for dr. appointments.  But I’m not crazy about zoom.   I’m still making art the way I have always been making…

2021… Here We Come!

I’ve decided to be more amazing this year! In this season I look forward to starting new projects, creating new opportunities for students and my followers. I’m not sure when the art festivals will be coming back so I am aiming for more of an online presence….

Rainyness

Today was an amazing day, weather wise.  We wont talk about the “plandemic” news. But it was a moist day with sporadic soft rain here and there.  The smell of the desert was nurturing.  The cloud covering set a mood.  My plants loved it. And I could have stayed in my garden all day but alas…. This week I am getting ready for the Tucson Museum of Art Spring Artisan Market.  Starts the Friday the 13th, ends Sunday the 15th.  10-5 each day. It’s on the street folks.  Open air festival.  No need to worry.   I have hand sanitizer….

A Glimmer of Light

I wanted to savor this moment and reflect on the past few months…that all began in late fall.  A project.  A custom order that is finally being sent off this week. The project between two very busy parties, me and the client. Honestly, I have never had a small custom order last as long as this did.  Through my busiest time of the year, we worked together bit by bit to see it completed.  (Remind me never to take a mural order again in October). So I wanted to document and share the process from beginning to (my) end. It…

Perfection…isms

Do you consider yourself a perfectionist? Do others think you’re a profectionist?   Or do you proudly proclaim you are not one at all?  I am talking about as an artist…not a brain surgeon. Is it bad to be a perfectionist?  That label kinda gets a bad rap. During one of my classes recently,  a student nonchalantly said she was not a perfectionist.  It got me thinking.  First of all,  I don’t expect any of my students to do things perfectly or hold themselves to the standards I hold myself as a professional artist.  I typically expect my students come…

The push, the pull….

When you plan for a getaway,  do you begin to tell yourself, ” I’m running out of time… I can’t go,… my house, my pets, my plants…. need me everyday”? Yes?  No?   I do. I always feel a push to get business tasks out of the way and a (constant) pull of tasks that seemingly need to be repeated.    So, before I take a much needed time off, I get very stressed trying to cover all my bases.  Somehow it all seems to work out.  But getting to the finish line can be exasperating. My nine year old granddaughter,…

Spring has Sprung!

Here in Tucson, we are in our spring..right now.  But don’t blink….for the 90 temps will be here shortly.  I have been loving the weather and trying to be out doors as much as possible. Either in my backyard gardening, smelling flowers, admiring the hummers and bees or hiking up in our mountains,  I love it all. Sunday’s hike up Pima Canyon:     My mosaic workshops and clay classes are in full swing now and the art shows are winding down.  I have a few more shows in April and a possible open studio in May.  I’m still deciding…

A New Thing

“He is doing a new thing”  (in me) That is my inspiration for this season.  Isaiah 43:19. The other day a friend mentioned on Facebook that she was selling her house and had to put away all her art supplies for a while.  I shutter at the thought.  But it got me thinking about how we get used to having many things at our fingertips but then there is a shift and we have limited resources. We can get frustrated, stomp our feet, curse the air, and ask ‘why me, ‘why now?’.   But eventually the disrupt  forces us to think…

New Attitude!

This year has started off very different from the last 4 years. We are now 3 months into the year.  This is about the time we first measure how the year is going so far.   I’m not sure you will believe me or that I will bore you with my faith beliefs but here goes. Goal #1. To be bold in my faith! In the spring of 2017 I had such a difficult season working in my own strength. (My own strength? you ask,)  ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”  Philippians, 4:13. Yes, in my…
