Taking A Risk

I have a new little venture.

I decided to enter 3 of my canvas paintings into a juried art show.

All three were accepted.

I was excited to receive the news.  I still am.  I have been in many juried shows through out my 29 year art career but this one is different because I entered canvas paintings only.  I love painting and I love ceramics.  Ceramics comes easier of coarse.   But painting, I am never too sure.  I am amazed how other painters can just whip up so many beautiful ideas and have a great body of work to place in galleries.  Me?  I only have 3 paintings I am willing to show the world.  It’s funny how trying something new can make an expert feel like, “who do you think you are?”  I know that is just foolish talk.  I am an artist and that is the way God made me.  We all go through insecurity at any age but it’s really good and freeing to try other mediums and get inspired by doing just that.   I rebuke those voices that try to keep me from growing and taking risks.

That being said, I will always encourage others to do the same.  So there, devil!

The SPRING INTO SUMMER SHOW is happening in 2 days.

The reception will be May 2nd from 4-6.  Refreshments will be served and I heard it’s a pretty good spread.  The show will go through July.  I do hope you can come.

Here are the three I will have at the show:
