Outdoor Art

The past several weeks I have produced larger work for indoors or outdoors.  This bench is titled: AGAVE BENCH WITH FLOWER STALKS Handmade tile on a concrete bench 38″ long by 14″ wide by 15″ high with a 3 ” thick top reinforced with rebar Currently at Harlow Gardens, Tucson, AZ  I will be at the Moonlight Art Market at Harlow Gardens this Saturday, April 22 from 6:00 to 8:30. Mosaic Mural; Corrales, New Mexico Style

  A finished mosaic back splash is a perfect touch to a custom home, Corrales, New Mexico style.  Incorporating handmade tiles of barrel cactus, flowering Yucca, flowering agave, and flowering aloe, along with a Jack Rabbit, butterflies, purple cactus, a family of quail,gecko, hummingbirds, and the sun peaking through the clouds. The project took two days to install.  The owners were so gracious to me as well as their 6 well behaved cats.  Since I never got around to Go Pro-ing the installation,  here are some still shots of the process.               My travels…

New Classes, New Work and The Newness of a New Year.

Happy New Year!   I am so glad 2013 is O.V.E.R. The New Year brings a new chance to start over.  To dress yourself in a new attitude, with new ideas, new hopes, new dreams, new love, new promises, a new skip in your step.  2014 here I come.  I am looking forward to new things.  I am looking forward to bright changes and overcoming some really bad habits. Pomegranate Ornaments At My Open Studio April 13 & 14.

  Pomegranate Ornaments! Each one has a something special in them. Pomegranates are a symbol of hope,  prosperity,  and eternal life. I am enamored with making this lovely fruit.  I think they are one of the most beautiful fruits God has ever created.  Not only are they unique in there design and shape but one pomegranate gives birth to hundreds of jewel-like fruity seeds that sparkle like garnets. Cooler Weather on the Horizona

  Yes it is still hot in Arizona.  But it should be cooling down by the end of the month.  It’s been a fairly moist monsoon season and that makes it bareable to live in Tucson in the summer.  So I am gearing up for more outdoor living.  And expect others are too.  We are already thinking about what we are planning to plant in our fall and winter gardens, which cool weather flowers to replace  the sun scorched ones on the patio and what else can be done to beautify the outdoors backyard.  We Tucsonians like to make it fun and…
