Now that fall has arrived, I have embraced it by lighting a Pumpkin Spice candle every morning while I pray, journal and meditate upon Jesus, “the author and finisher of our faith”. It’s what gets me through the day. The harvest season is a time to give thanks daily, although I try to do this in all seasons, this particular time for me is special. The cooler air in the morning invigorates me to walk or garden and the evenings are a perfect temperature for patio dinners. As my last blog indicated, there is a change in the atmosphere. I…

A Change of Atmosphere
September is my favorite month. It’s the beginning of a new season, it’s my mom’s birthday month and everyone and everything seems to get back to a routine. Oh, the temps are still hot in Tucson but the earth has a subtle change in degrees, with longer shadows and slightly cooler evenings. I anticipate the fall from a distance with pumpkin everything. There is a change in the atmosphere in more ways than one. As an artist in business for over 33 years I go through patterns of change, then comfort then change again. Just when I think I have…
The Tale of Three Benches
During this down time I have been able to get a lot done, as we all have. But all this free time to ourselves is beginning to grow old and monotonous. I don’t want to go down the corona/ economy/ get back to work road. I just want to let you all know I am eager to share all the new work I have been creating. This stay – at – home season has allowed me to create some more elaborate work and that is always exciting to me. So the “Tale of Three Benches” is about these amazing mosaic…
Drawing From The Desert
I never tire of the desert life. Sometimes I think about living in some other part of the country but I always follow it up with …”but I will miss the desert”. How blessed I am to be living in a place that has amazing weather, the best sunsets, exotic cactus, dramatic monsoons, easy winters, wide open blue, orange or pink skies, purple majestic mountains, wild lightning shows, starry starry nights that go on forever. Among all that are desert critters that have adapted to the scorching summers; groups of javalina seem to startle the family dog, the coyote party…
Gently gliding into summer
I know it is still spring but Tucson is an exception. However, the wicked triple digits have been staying off for a longer pleasant spring. I have been thoroughly enjoying the gardening/ wild flowering/ cactus blooming season in my tiny back yard. I am surrounding myself with nature while I work on mosaic tile projects… (to be shown soon. Bees, hummers, butterflies, families of Finches and Verdins have a safe haven right here. The littlest joys bring inspiration to my art creations. And I just have to say, Congratulations to my daughter, Shauna and her partner, Ryan, for giving birth…
Buy the Couch!
Happy February Folks. I recently bought a couch after the holidays. It was a large purchase and one I had thought hard about. I researched on-line, went to local furniture stores, scrolled through FB Marketplace night after night. I definitely was leaning towards a retro style but contemporary. And it had to be TEAL. Now a teal sofa is not a common color for retail shops. But there are plenty on the internet. I have never made a furniture purchase on-line before… but it seems everyone is doing it these days. I mean for crying out loud, Amazon is selling…
Prepare to be Wowed.
Next weekend is the Chris Bubany Holiday Marketplace held at Harlow Gardens. NOvember 3 & 4 I am proud to be a part of this show every year because it premieres the best artisans in the Tucson area and it is held at one of the prettiest nurserys in town. I mean Harlow Gardens is a gorgeous setting. For me, it begins my season for offering new work I have been working on all summer. So many people come back to this show year after year to grab up beautiful gifts, art and lovely plants as well. I love seeing fellow artists and…

Hot Days of July
Pretty hot indeed. But the garden doesn’t mind it. I started a “monsoon garden” last week and everything is coming up nice and robust. I had to hang a shade cloth over it though, so the little sprouts wouldn’t get burned. It’s been 109 degrees here in Tucson.. ..I know, yuk! I have the screen over the seedlings because Cats you know. The middle photo is my herb garden. The basil loves the heat. And then a shot of my shade cloth because I’m so proud I got it to hang so high and tight. These days are so…
A Get Away in May
Last month I was able to attend Art Biz Coach Mastermind in Santa Fe, New Mexico offered by Alyson Stanfield. One of my favorite places in the world. I love Santa Fe not only for the art but also for its’ beautiful reddish country side dotted with junipers, rushing rivers lined with cottonwoods and its famous Spanish colonial and pueblo architecture. Santa Fe is an art meca for all kinds of amazing art including Native American and southwest art. I can’t even begin to express how inspiring it was for me to see all the amazing art. The…
