A Glimmer of Light

I wanted to savor this moment and reflect on the past few months…that all began in late fall.  A project.  A custom order that is finally being sent off this week. The project between two very busy parties, me and the client. Honestly, I have never had a small custom order last as long as this did.  Through my busiest time of the year, we worked together bit by bit to see it completed.  (Remind me never to take a mural order again in October). So I wanted to document and share the process from beginning to (my) end. It…

Drawing From The Desert

I never tire of the desert life.  Sometimes I think about living in some other part of the country but I always follow it up with …”but I will miss the desert”. How blessed I am to be living in a place that has amazing weather,  the best sunsets, exotic cactus, dramatic monsoons, easy winters, wide open blue, orange or pink skies, purple majestic mountains, wild lightning shows, starry starry nights that go on forever. Mosaic Mural; Corrales, New Mexico Style

A finished mosaic back splash is a perfect touch to a custom home, Corrales, New Mexico style.  Incorporating handmade tiles of barrel cactus, flowering Yucca, flowering agave, and flowering aloe, along with a Jack Rabbit, butterflies, purple cactus, a family of quail, gecko, hummingbirds, and the sun peaking through the clouds. Here are a few pieces at Tohono Chul Park:  http://tohonochulpark.org/ And there are some fun ornaments or souvenirs for Easter gifts and winter visitors. By the way, I do custom work. If  you see anything here that speaks to you…

Best in Show Ribbon!

The St Phillips Show on Sunday was beautiful.  Not only was the weather perfect but it was well attended, in a pretty venue and everyone was in high spirits.  I have always done well at this one- day show and Sunday proved to  hold up my expectations.  It was awesome.  Not only because it’s the best one-day show I have ever done but that many of my friends purposely came to see me and hang out with me.  That’s what made it special.  To be encouraged and supported is an important thing but it also took a lot of the…
