The push, the pull….

When you plan for a getaway,  do you begin to tell yourself, ” I’m running out of time… I can’t go,… my house, my pets, my plants…. need me everyday”? Yes?  No?   I do. I always feel a push to get business tasks out of the way and a (constant) pull of tasks that seemingly need to be repeated.    So, before I take a much needed time off, I get very stressed trying to cover all my bases.  Somehow it all seems to work out.  But getting to the finish line can be exasperating. My nine year old granddaughter,…

Gently gliding into summer

I know it is still spring but Tucson is an exception.  However, the wicked triple digits have been staying off for a longer pleasant spring. I have been thoroughly enjoying the gardening/ wild flowering/ cactus blooming season in my tiny back yard.  I am surrounding myself with nature while I work on mosaic tile projects… (to be shown soon.  Bees, hummers, butterflies, families of Finches and Verdins  have a safe haven right here.  The littlest joys bring inspiration to my art creations. And I just have to say, Congratulations to my daughter, Shauna and her partner, Ryan, for giving birth…

Spring has Sprung!

Here in Tucson, we are in our spring..right now.  But don’t blink….for the 90 temps will be here shortly.  I have been loving the weather and trying to be out doors as much as possible. Either in my backyard gardening, smelling flowers, admiring the hummers and bees or hiking up in our mountains,  I love it all. Sunday’s hike up Pima Canyon:     My mosaic workshops and clay classes are in full swing now and the art shows are winding down.  I have a few more shows in April and a possible open studio in May.  I’m still deciding…

30 Years and Little things.

Wow!  30 years. This is an accomplishment.  It just dawned on me, as I was rushing out the door to be at another art show… this month, is my 30 year anniversary being a professional artist.   It’s true. In some ways I feel I have come full circle.  In most ways, I am still pushing, still creating, still striving for the accomplished skills, accomplished gallery, accomplished notary, accomplished level of comfort, lifestyle..on and on. I’m still striving to stay relevant, contemporary and relate-able.  Each piece I create…I imagine…do they get me?  Do they get what I’m trying to convey? …

Trunk Show….Whats that?

Trunk Show….Whats that? A question I am often asked. First of all, I will be having a trunk show at Jane Hamilton Fine Art Gallery this weekend.  Saturday and Sunday, February 2 & 3 from 11- 3. I will be featuring my”MENDED HEARTS” (large wall art hearts) for Valentine’s day and my new bench design:  “POPPY FIELDS” I will also have small gift hearts and functional wares. Come see all the colors featuring red, bright red and everything made with passion.     Mended Hearts Poppy Fields Bench     So where did the term “trunk show” originate from? According to Google, in…

Buy the Couch!

Happy February Folks. I recently bought a couch after the holidays.  It was a large purchase and one I had thought hard about. I researched on-line, went to local furniture stores, scrolled through FB Marketplace night after night.  I definitely was leaning towards a retro style but contemporary.    And it had to be TEAL. Now a teal sofa is not a common color for retail shops.  But there are plenty on the internet.  I have never made a furniture purchase on-line before…  but it seems everyone is doing it these days.  I mean for crying out loud, Amazon is selling…

Give the Gift of Making Art! 2019 Mosaic Workshops.

Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas.  We are in the thick of the holiday season. It is the perfect time to offer my mosaic workshops for those who would like to give something fun for a Christmas or Hanukkah gift.  From January to April, choose from 4 separate workshops. First of all, it is easy.  Anyone can do it.  It is fun.  Do you like fun? I like fun.  And it doesn’t take long to find out how you can create a masterpiece within 3 hours time.  Which makes you kind of a genius.   Taking a mosaic workshop…

Prepare to be Wowed.

Next weekend is the Chris Bubany Holiday Marketplace held at Harlow Gardens.   NOvember 3 & 4 I am proud to be a part of this show every year because it premieres the best artisans in the Tucson area  and it is held at one of the prettiest nurserys in town.  I mean Harlow Gardens is a gorgeous setting.  For me, it begins my season for offering new work I have been working on all summer. So many people come back to this show year after year to grab up beautiful gifts, art and lovely plants as well. I love seeing fellow artists and…

Red October

October being just a few days away, I would like to remind folks that October 6, next Saturday is my last mosaic workshop for the season.  It’s been such fun helping my students design, glue and grout! Boom! They were done and leaving with a really beautiful tile mosaic wall piece they could hang in their house or give as a gift.  I loved watching their excitement when everything started to come together… They all said, and I quote, ” I am so glad I took this class.” Ya see, I make all the tile up in advance. From cactus…
