Arroyo Garden Murals

Last week was the completion of the tiled murals I was hired to make and install.  This is my first commercial job and it actually went pretty smoothly.  No different than installing for homes.  Well… maybe a little different.  It’s  a mans world in a construction zone.  Being one of the 3 women…everyone was very respectful and helpful. As promised, I told you I would post pics of the project.  I didn’t have a Go-Pro.  I wish I could’ve had one but maybe the next project, which is coming up this summer. I decided to have professional pictures done of…

New Work in the Old Pueblo

So it’s February.  January flew by.  I feel I was only present for half of January because what ever was going around…..you name it, I caught it!  I am glad to see January ’16 leave. And good riddance. Meanwhile, I have been busy with new designs for an up coming tile mosaic job I have been hired to create.  It’s always exciting to have a new challenge, a reprieve from the daily bread and butter. I will give you a sneak preview…..based on the mural I designed and created for a Rocky Point, Mexico sea side residence over the summer/ 2015.  I…

Springtime in Tucson

These days are gorgeous with our spring season upon us.  Here is a quick update to let you know the new items I just restocked the local galleries with.  Right now is the perfect time to walk, skip, or ride bike  over to Tohono Chul Park.  I was just there today and the wild flowers are amazing.  It’s so inspiring. Here are a few pieces at Tohono Chul Park:  http://tohonochulpark.org/ And there are some fun ornaments or souvenirs for Easter gifts and winter visitors. By the way, I do custom work. If  you see anything here that speaks to you…

New Classes, New Work and The Newness of a New Year.

Happy New Year!   I am so glad 2013 is O.V.E.R. The New Year brings a new chance to start over.  To dress yourself in a new attitude, with new ideas, new hopes, new dreams, new love, new promises, a new skip in your step.  2014 here I come.  I am looking forward to new things.  I am looking forward to bright changes and overcoming some really bad habits. I started it off by doing a juice fast!  I am still fasting and I’m on my 5th  day.  I am obsessed with living healthy.  I’m sure my friends are sick…

Rewarding

Tuesday’s mosaic class has come and gone way too fast. I am teaching a new  6 week session of clay tile mosaics to 4 inspiring and fun loving women.  The class goes by so quickly that I am almost sad to see it end.  And ya know what?  They inspire me. After they all left tonight, I sat thinking about how these gals come to be taught and be inspired by my creations and their ideas inspire me too.  It’s a win/win situation. I am delighted at the ideas that are beginning to stir inside of them as they birth new and…

Tile Classes Start May 28

I will be offering handmade clay tile class this summer. Officially it’s called a Mosaic class but I am discovering  a lot of people, when they think of “mosaics” they think of little tiny pieces of colored glass tile or broken dishes mortared into a design of some sort.  And yes, that is what it is but there are many forms of mosaics.  It is an art form and it does take concentration when you have a whole mess of brightly colored pieces to pick from. Personally,  I have never liked the idea of breaking glass or china to get the effect I want.  Not…

Best in Show Ribbon!

The St Phillips Show on Sunday was beautiful.  Not only was the weather perfect but it was well attended, in a pretty venue and everyone was in high spirits.  I have always done well at this one- day show and Sunday proved to  hold up my expectations.  It was awesome.  Not only because it’s the best one-day show I have ever done but that many of my friends purposely came to see me and hang out with me.  That’s what made it special.  To be encouraged and supported is an important thing but it also took a lot of the…
