Tuesday’s mosaic class has come and gone way too fast.
I am teaching a new 6 week session of clay tile mosaics to 4 inspiring and fun loving women. The class goes by so quickly that I am almost sad to see it end. And ya know what? They inspire me.
After they all left tonight, I sat thinking about how these gals come to be taught and be inspired by my creations and their ideas inspire me too. It’s a win/win situation.

I am delighted at the ideas that are beginning to stir inside of them as they birth new and fun creativity. This is my new favorite thing….teaching folks. And honestly, I don’t know why I didn’t do more of it in my past. I guess I wasn’t ready at that time.
I am facing the fact that our society is recovering from a devastating recession and instead of filling our lives with meaningless things (that’s made in China), we now want to have things that mean something to us. Or at least I hope so.
Personally, I think us Americans are recovering and I don’t mean economically so much but rather we are recovering from the magic of the credit card era. We are more careful about what we buy and collect to fill up our houses. I see a huge wave of do-it-yourselfers who not only want to save a buck but also feel their potential as a creative person.
Being creative with limited funds is creative in itself. Limited funds forces me to be creative with my time and money. I would rather spend my time with family and friends and if I’m not doing that I am in my studio creating new work or gardening. I am never bored. I actually have too much going on.
So back to do-it-yourselfers, I am taking a small break from teaching to spend time with my family. Starting Sept. 9 I will begin a new session of classes. I will post the schedule soon, so look for that. Meanwhile, I have a new line of delicate clay pendants for necklaces and beaded necklaces with the pendants already on.
I would love to hear your feedback. And I would like to know if there are any fabulous classes you have attended this summer or how you have been creative with your time and money or (lack of funds).
Thanks for stopping by!
